Suppose you’re a tradesperson working from your van, or a self-employed accountant working at home, or road warrior.  You probably publish your mobile number for customers to contact you.   That’s usually how people start because it’s easy and cheap, but it isn’t the most professional way to work.

Some drawbacks are that:

• Customers immediately know that you are one-person business.
• People prefer to call geographic numbers when they are looking for services.
• When someone calls, how do you know if it’s a personal call or a customer enquiry?
• If you’re busy and you can’t answer, your call will just go to your personal voicemail.  Customers don’t like leaving messages.

A virtual landline is a geographic “landline” number for your business which send calls to your mobile phone in a controlled way.   You receive a notification of an incoming call before your phone rings, so you will know if it’s a business call.  If you don’t answer, it can be set to play a message to the caller to tell them you are busy and that you will call them back later.  Alternatively, we can send the call automatically to another mobile number.

Missed calls are automatically added to a “to do” list on your phone.  You just need to tap on the phone number to call people back.

When you call a customer, you can choose to call them from your business number or from your personal mobile number.

We can set up your working hours in a schedule so that if people call you during your downtime, we play them a message to say that your business is closed for the day and that you will call them back.

If you run a business with co-workers or partners, we can send calls on your virtual landline to everyone in the team all at the same time.  Colleagues can transfer calls between each other.   You could also have an automatic responder to give callers options such as “press 1 for sales, press 2 for customer service, press 3 for accounts”.  Calls are then pushed to the right people.  Everyone in the team can call customers from their mobile phones on your shared business number.
